that mission!
We invite you to learn more about the Guild of
Modern Medievalism, and if you’re already a member, explore the
numerous resources this website offers.
Who We Are
The Guild of
Modern Medievalism (usually called ‘The Guild’), is a unique
organization that offers its members a chance to step back in time and
re-create history as it could have been. Guild members become part of
Doon Douglas, a flourishing medieval village on the border of Scotland
and England, and develop personas that guide the outcome of exciting,
ongoing dramas which we play out at our numerous performance venues, including the Wisconsin Renaissance Faire.
The Guild also offers many opportunities to research
new skills and share your talents with others. Study the
art of swordplay and combat, connect with local artisans to share
knowledge on such respected trades as weaving, pottery, and music, or
take to the stage and engage audiences with your own personal
talents. Or try a bit of everything!
The Guild supports a community of caring and
interested individuals who seek to learn and grow together, melding
elements of history with the magic of creativity, and ultimately
sharing their discoveries and delight with people everywhere!
You don’t have to have prior experience to become a part of the Guild–
all you need is a friendly disposition and the desire to give it a try!
